VasaVita Newsletter - February Edition
Welcome to the first newsletter!
Hey! Amil, here. Thank you again for joining me in this journey. I am beyond excited to have you here. I hope February is treating you well and that you are excited for the upcoming warm spring weather.
I often view February, and all the winter months for that matter, as hibernation time for myself. Just as animals retreat and gather warmth and energy to fuel them for the spring and summer, I view the winter months as prime time for grinding away and working hard to prepare for the upcoming warm months. As the sun sets and nighttime comes early, I assume my “Main Character energy” and use this to motivate myself to work hard, although I often get whisked away by external distractions like social media and Netflix.
The warmer months are the perfect time to mirror the blossoming of nature in your own personal and professional endeavors.
The theme of this month’s newsletter will be just that. Last-minute steps, ideas, and notions for success as we complete our hibernation. Whether the spring/summer entails you graduating college and entering the world of adulthood, starting a program at a new university, pivoting into a new role (or even a new industry), or officially launching your own venture, the processes to prepare for these changes boil down to the same framework. Let’s dive deeper!
Notion #1: The Chase for Perfection
Whatever you are working on or gearing up to, there is this notion permeating the business world to not release it or tell others about it until it is perfect, until it is 100% good to go and ready for market.
I think that’s silly.
Why would you not tell people about it? Whether it is a version of your resume, a coding project you are creating, or a speech for a presentation, how are you going to get the feedback from unbiased points-of-view that are essential to elevating your product? You only have your one view. Your friends, family, teachers, colleagues, managers provide infinite more views and perspectives. Use them! Ask for help, seek out feedback, look for ways to improve.
Nothing is ever going to be perfect. If you are waiting for the right time, the right time will pass you by. Perfection can never truly be achieved, but you will get a lot closer by asking for help and getting more hands involved. Don’t wait to start because of the fear of imperfection – perfection is a facade. The willingness to adapt, the desire to iterate 100 times over and over and over, the curiosity to look at something in a new way: this is the true chase for perfection.
This AI-generated image is not perfect, but I think its imperfection matches the theme of this section perfectly
Notion #2: Proving Everyone Wrong
There is this idea that you must go “radio silent,” put your head down, and “prove everyone wrong”…Prove who wrong? There’s this existing culture out there to do something really well to prove some entity wrong and make them realize that their doubts about you were misguided.
But wouldn’t it be more powerful to do something really well to prove yourself right?
To prove it to yourself that you can do what you set out to accomplish – run a marathon, get that consulting job, build your app, get your certification – is that not the most powerful thing you can do? Not to do it out of spite for anyone else’s ignorance of you, but to do it out of pure love for and belief in yourself. This is the true backbone of motivation and drive.
Don’t paint non-believers or non-supporters as your enemies. They, too, help you on your path. Franklin D. Roosevelt's said, “a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.” Whether or not you have someone out there who is doubting your ability, don’t use anger or indignation as the gasoline that powers your metaphorical car. Instead, do it for yourself and only yourself. That is the most powerful fuel.
Sailor just straight up vibing
That’s all for this month’s newsletter! Let me know your thoughts! Good, bad, mediocre? My goal with this is to engage my network, build it out, and hold myself accountable while also tracking my and VasaVita’s growth. All the tips, ideas, steps, etc. that I put in here are also stuff I am actively working on improving for myself. If you have any thoughts, comments, or feedback, please dish it to me! I appreciate you being a part of my VasaVita journey.
If you read down this far, you are the best. If you didn’t, well, I still think you’re the best, but you sadly won’t know that I think you are the best ☹️
See you in March!
Oh! One Final Thing
In the sprit of transparency and holding myself accountable, I am going to include my audience count here to keep you apprised on my growth. Let’s track my growth and see how these numbers ~hopefully~ rise by March!
