April Showers Bring May Flowers
VasaVita Newsletter - April Edition
Hello, hello! It’s that glorious time of the month again when I pop back into your inbox to drop some earth-shattering wisdom on you. Just kidding – it’s that time of the month where I share what I am currently working on and how I am trying to grow.
It’s April! Flowers are blooming, days are getting longer, and my allergies are getting worse. Besides the overwhelming eye itchiness and extreme congestion, April marks the beginning of longer days and better times ahead. There is the common expression “April showers bring May flowers.” And that is what I want to dive deeper into today.
April showers bring May flowers – besides the botanical meaning of this maxim, what exactly does this mean? And how can we learn from it? Let’s find out!

Rain Begets Sunshine
April showers bring May flowers. I think the over-arching message in this is to accept the present for what it is and be patient. It might be raining today, but tomorrow there may be sun. Without having rain, we would not truly appreciate the days with sun. We must have something negative (or what we perceive to be negative), in order to truly embrace and love the positive (or what we perceive to be positive).
What I am saying is that, in life, there will always be a balance. And we need that balance. We do not only always want good things, because then what will challenge us? What will stimulate us? What will inspire us? What will give us hope? When I see the weather for the next three days being rainy, but the fourth day is sunny, that gives me hope. It gives me something to look forward to. If every day was the same – all good or all bad – what would inspire us to change?
We need the balance in our lives to continue to push us, because otherwise we are faced with the dreariness of monotony, and that is more painful than any challenge standing in our way.
TLDR: Rain begets sunshine. Pain begets strength. Negatives allow the positives. Struggling allows flourishing. Without experiencing the rain, you cannot enjoy the gift of the sun. We need the rain so that our flowers can gain the strength to grow and bloom. Without it, we wouldn’t have the natural beauties that we look forward to seeing every May. Same goes for the beauty we find within ourselves.
Don’t let the rain go to waste. Let it create life.
Being Comfortable in the Uncomfortable
The other thing that I think is so interesting is that we naturally assume rain to be the bad thing (or at least, I do). I assume that rain is the undesirable event and sunshine and flowers blooming is the desired outcome. But why? How come I have to classify the status of my life by the external state of the environment? Regardless of what will happen or what might happen, all I have is right now. All we have is right now. Good times will come, but until they do, we have no choice but to make the current times the best of times.
So we have to learn to dance in the rain, to make the rain our sunshine, to not let what is happening for us happen to us. If we learn to be comfortable in the uncomfortable, then there is not a single environment that we cannot thrive in. If we bask in the rain, then the sun will feel even better, and future rains will not feel as bad. If we learn to live with our current situation, then it can only get better.
If we are content with nothing, then when we finally obtain something, it will feel like everything.
TLDR: Rain does not have to be bad. You decide whether or not it is bad. You control your emotions. Do not let what is happening for you happen to you. It is raining for a reason, and perhaps you cannot see that reason yet. Learn to be comfortable in the uncomfortable, because then you will no longer be waiting for something to change. The good times do not start only when the sun comes out, but when you decide they start. And if it happens to be raining, then so be it.
That’s all for this month! Let me know your thoughts! As I mentioned in March’s newsletter, my goal with this is to just write and share. Nothing else other than to create something meaningful and hopefully helpful. All the tips, ideas, steps, etc. that I put in here are things I am actively working on improving for myself. Writing them out also helps me to visualize what to work on and how to do it.
If you have any thoughts, comments, or feedback, please dish it to me! I’d love to know how I can improve. I am glad to have you here on my VasaVita journey.
If you want to talk more about anything I discussed in my newsletters, or want to learn more about VasaVita’s services, story, and goals, check out my website below or schedule a meeting with me! I appreciate you all!
See you in May!
And last but not least, the following growth check!
In the sprit of transparency and holding myself accountable, I include my audience count here to keep you apprised on my growth. We got some new joiners here in April, but not as many as we did in March. Looking forward to ~hopefully~ more growth in May! If you have any ideas or tips, feel free to share!
